Highlight: A Montclair NJ Home Remodeled by G&L and Sons

When a homeowner embarks on a large renovation project there are many decisions to be made.  This project started with the focus on the kitchen. The homeowners often entertained family and friends and wanted to create an area that would allow for guests to sit around and chat while the preparation and final touches of great meals were done. Special attention was paid to creating a welcoming atmosphere.

The warm mix of wood floors and cabinetry and painted white wood cabinet and mouldings compliment each other beautifully. Special attention was paid to task and atmosphere lighting. The use of contemporary lighting and accent chairs at the farm table, juxtaposed against the traditional millwork and chandelier creates a perfect harmonious balance.

The mudroom was created to be a functional area to store daily school backpacks. Children's homework can be brought home and neatly packed up to be returned the next day making forgetfulness a thing of the past! School schedules and other important paperwork won't go astray with this beautifully organized space. This valuable area took the place of a tired front porch.

Separate sink areas insure cooks don't collide, the counter space on the island allows for a large area in which holiday meals and parties can be enjoyed, and the fireplace is just the perfect touch to warm body and spirit at festive occasions or every day.

Finish the project off with a large wrap-around porch for a peaceful start or end of any day and you can proudly call this home.
